This story goes back to when I was growing up in West Africa Liberia. In the 1990s, my dad was a diplomat, so he spent most of his time traveling to the states. He visited the mansion back in 1996, and fell in love with the sophistication and elegance of the brand. On his way back to Liberia he would always bring us Polo clothing. At the age of eight years old I was introduced to my first polo shirt and at that moment, I fell in love with the brand. My dream was to work for this amazing company. Fast forward 25 years later that dream came through. That was two years ago. I truly relate to his story and his upbringing. He had the dedication to build a fashion empire starting from selling his first necktie from the back of his
truck. It’s truly an American dream. To me, Ralph Lauren is not just about the clothes. It’s a lifestyle. To have 50 years of consistency and elegance is truly an inspiration. He took his inspiration and used it to share his vision to the world. In closing, someone once asked me this question: If you could wear one brand of clothing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? My answer to them was very easy. Ralph Lauren! It is the only brand that truly defines the true meaning of elegance and sophistication for all demographics. As a senior seller at Store 867 it would be an honor to attend the 50th anniversary of this great company. Thank you so much Mr. Lauren for giving us the opportunity to be part of the Ralph Lauren family. Also thank you for your philanthropy and the great work you continue to do
around the globe.

— Akief Sheriff

Congratulations Mr. Lauren! Your work ethic has always been an inspiration to me. I bought this sweater for my father back in 1992. My dad sold Christmas trees every year. So, the sweater was most appropriate, especially for being outside on those long Winter days. The sweater is special to me because my dad died that same year of brain cancer. I will still wear the sweater occasionally on those cold winter days when I am selling Christmas trees.

A very simple story. My sons attended an all-boys, private elementary school in Manhattan. A school which had a dress code which was a jacket, tie, good dress shirt and real shoes (no sneakers!). My favorite place to shop was the Ralph Lauren store at 72nd and Madison Avenue in New York. The clothing I bought them there in the boy’s department was so outstanding, so elegant, so wonderful and the best part about it was – with two sons – I was able to hand the clothing down from one son to another for years. The quality was so outstanding, the workmanship to fine – and after they had outgrown the items, I could send them along to the school’s annual Clothing sale for other boys to wear! Both recent Harvard graduates, my sons continue to wear Polo clothing (as does their Dad) – and it continues to be the best stuff out there!! Thank you for your classic clothing that never goes out of style and truly lasts forever!

In my daughter’s lives Polo has always represented celebration. From birthdays, to baptism and weddings, we always celebrate by dressing our girls in Polo Ralph Lauren. It seems that simple Pony on a simple Polo dress always seems to be the perfect fit for all occasions. The fabrics are comfortable, care-free and continue to look stunning wash after wash. Both of my daughters wore Ralph Lauren dresses after their baptisms. My oldest daughter has worn Polo dresses on her birthdays and at the rehearsal dinner for my best friends’ weddings. We get compliments everywhere we go on how well dressed and beautiful they are and to me the entire package is important. I hope you enjoy the photos of my two princesses, Leah and Nina. As they grow up wearing Ralph Lauren I hope they come to enjoy the brand as much as I have!

A scrawny Jewish kid from Brooklyn took WASPy clothes and threw them on a gorgeous half-black/half-Asian man and said to half of America, “Here is how you will dress for the foreseeable future.” The man, the brand, and the nation that birthed both have their faults and detractors, but- damn- you have to admire the hustle. Mr. Lauren
My first connection to Polo Ralph Lauren came in the summer of 1983, I was 15 years old and I wanted my first Polo shirts. We didn’t have lot of money so my parents told me that I would need to earn & save the money for the shirts. I mowed lawns all summer long and saved up to make the first big purchase of my life ? three oxford shirts. I remember them so clearly ? two were solid colors (blue and yellow) and the third was a black plaid. I remember being so proud and excited to wear my new Polo shirts to school that fall. Now 35 years later, I am so humbled that I have been part of the Ralph Lauren family for almost 9 years.
Congratulations on 50 incredible years!

After giving birth to my first, and only child, my parents decided to take me shopping 34 years ago. This was in Houston, Texas, and we ended up at one of my favorite boutiques named “MS.”, which no longer exist but carried many different styles and labels. Being 58″, with very long legs,
I had always had to let out the hem in my pants UNTIL I tried on this wonderful pair of baby blue corduroy pants with the label Ralph Lauren in them. To my joyful surprise, they were not only long enough, but fit like a glove! From that day forward, I fell in love with “Ralph Lauren” and have been I am sure, one of the most loyal customers that could possibly be! (Just ask the employees at the Polo Shop in Houston!)
I now live in Austin as of 7 years ago and with delight have kept the road hot driving out to the very new Ralph Lauren store that is now here, hurray!
Of course, upon seeing THE store in New York, many years ago, I had fantasies of moving in and secretly living on the floor of the home department!
In all seriousness, my closets are full of Ralph Lauren from 30 years ago– I am guessing some of the things I have, to be that old, just because they are so classic and I cannot part with them…
After two husbands, for sure the most loyal and lasting man in my life has been Ralph….

I probably learned more working at Ralph Lauren in my first month than in the whole rest of my career. Ralph not only raises the bar, he sets it for our entire industry.

— John Varvatos

The sense of passion that you have instilled in all of us is completely unrivaled. I know that what we do and how we do it is like no one else in the industry. Every day when that Pony goes over my heart when I put my shirt on in the morning it feels like I can be anything I want to be. Thank you for that, Ralph. Thank you for the past 50 years as well as the next.

— Jordan Allison

Ralph has always been so true to himself. If there were trends that seemed to be happening, he didn’t care about them. He taught me to really believe in your own concept.

Dear Ralph,
It’s the day after the 50th Fashion show and I feel as if I’ve woken up from the most spectacular dream. I was fortunate enough to attend your early show as a winner of a ticket! The evening was full of joy, celebration, old friends and colleagues reconnecting. We dined in fabulous atmospheres, including the Polo Bar (it was my first time going) and again we met more colleagues and it felt like a family reunion. The emotion that was felt throughout the night hit me to the core. When I started working for you, I was straight out of college, struggling for a job…..to kick start my career. I remember being unhappy working for another retailer and thinking to myself “if I’m going to be stuck in Retail, I want it to be with the best and that’s Ralph Lauren. I’m going to start from the bottom and move my way up.” I want to thank you for building a company that believed in me, always gave me the opportunity to succeed, and for rewarding my hard work. It’s now been over 6 years, which seems so short compared to others tenures! I’ve been able to work in different store locations, in different departments, and move into the corporate offices. With this company I have grown into a professional woman, and now all I keep thinking about is how excited I am for what’s to come next. With Ralph Lauren, I love that we feel like a family. That we stand for authenticity and timelessness. Our passion for the company is unprecedented. And we work hard like no other to achieve what we stand for, believe in, and dream of. Thank you ALWAYS and congratulations on your 50 years of tremendous success.

You’re our American guy. On the Risk board, you know, it’s worth five points. You’re America.

Not many people know this, but I skipped college and began selling and making clothes the summer after high school. Selling old Ralph Lauren and other vintage iconic brands mixed in with my own designs, I began what would become my own global fashion brand with only my grandma’s sewing machine, $2,000 dollars, a big dream and the support, ideas and hardwork from the girl of my dreams, @sarahkjp. There were so many ups and downs. So many rocky months and days/weeks of doubt. Very early on I discovered my role model after hearing his story over and over from the many great people we met along our way. Like me, Ralph Lauren started out from humble beginnings but with grand visions of a huge world that he had to bring to those around him. When people wear Ralph Lauren, they’re wearing the American Dream. What he’s created is very special. It’s a piece of American history now. He inspires me to aspire for something better. To aspire for something that doesn’t exist, but just because it doesn’t exist doesn’t mean I can’t create it. I can create something special because Ralph did. That will always be a huge inspiration to me and my family and all that we do. Today @poloralphlauren has featured my story and collection on their Instagram and new app. I invite you to check out my story, leave some love and most of all… I hope for you to be inspired like I was. Thank you Ralph Lauren for inviting us all into your World, sincerely Kiel James Patrick.

The attention to community, to bringing the customer in and creating a viable lifestyle, is being touted as the new way to build a successful business in fashion. But this concept is not at all new. It is a page pulled directly from a playbook written by Ralph Lauren.

Bradd, our son had a dirt bike and was instructed to stay in a safe riding area. But as children often do he did not always mind our instructions. He was traveling on a country road and had an accident on his bike. He slide across the pavement on his back. His RL Polo Shirt did not have one torn place and saved him from being scraped or cut over his back. Needless to say, from then on only RL Polo Shirts hang in our closets. This was in 1980…RL means quality and certainly, wearability. Thanks, RL for your quality in all of your products!!!

— Manny Galvan

I think Ralph Lauren is the best designer. I love the shop, the clothes, the ads. I think he’s also the nicest guy and totally cool. He’s just so American, and it’s so well done.

If you called central casting and said, ‘Find me a great New Yorker,’ they would send Ralph Lauren. Someone told me I should wear his Polo shirts on the golf course, and they said, “You’ll look better, but your game won’t.”

It has been an honor to work for such a reputable company that has taken me under its wings and given me pride and joy to work for. Throughout my experience with the company, I have learned many valuable lessons but the one that stands out the most is working together as a team in order to make it happen. In this 50th Anniversary of the company, I look forward to many more years to enjoy and be a part of. Thank you, Mr. Lauren, for bringing your dreams and sharing them with the rest of us.

I have been with Ralph Lauren for 28 years now ? but my history with the company goes back much longer ? beginning with my mom who was probably one of Ralph’s first fans and customers. As I was growing up in the 70’s and 80’s my mother’s favorite items were the beautiful Ralph Lauren sweaters, skirts and dresses she would buy at Bloomingdale’s. I grew up with Ralph as the epitome of classic American fashion and I still have some of those original pieces in my closet. When I got my job at Ralph Lauren Home, I met my parents for dinner in the city, where they gave me gift of RL perfume, Safari ? to celebrate. I still have that bottle and remember the excitement and anticipation of starting to work at company I had grown up with.
28 years later, I am still proud and full of excitement of what this company has become and where it is going. While it might be rare these days, to stay at one company for over 20 years, at Polo, there are so many of us ? it’s a testament to the company and Ralph how loyalty, vision and passion is reciprocal – to Ralph himself, but also from Ralph to us and we feel invested in this company.
Congratulations Ralph on 50 years of growing a great company and a great family of co-workers. And like my mother’s earliest pieces of RL – we all might be getting a little more ‘vintage’ but we have great timeless style that keeps us ageless.
Thank you!

— Nina Gibson

I fell in love with my husband on our first date. He looked amazing. He wore Ralph Lauren Polo. 13 years later, we are married, and both happily still wearing Polo. His wardrobe is 100% Polo, down to his boxers (which of course I didn’t know until much later in our relationship!) His fragrance is also Polo. He always looks crisp and together, even when playing golf.

— Randie Minovitz

I don’t know a lot about fashion clothes, but I know I like his stuff. He sure knows how to dress a girl.

Classic is Classic… I recieved this gift box containing POLO cologne and soap for Christmas in 1984 when I was 18. I have kept the box for almost 34 years and still love the design as much as the day I opened it! I do love good packaging!

He’s one of the people I respect most on this planet; it goes like, immediate family, and then Ralph Lauren. I believe that Ralph is the only designer in our market that is respected from the Hamptons to Harlem, and everywhere in between. He’s been able to have an impact in furniture, in apparel, in lifestyle, and remain relevant across the board. I have so much respect for him as a businessman and a designer.

Icon. No one will ever do what Ralph has done. What I respect the most is the pure and clear vision he had from the very beginning.

Dear Ralph,
Congratulations on an amazing achievement! 50 years is more remarkable when you see how fast paced and disposable today’s society is. Longevity is underrated these days! Its over 2 years since I started working for you, and my life has turned around completely. Suffering in my last company, stripped of my confidence and self-esteem, working for Polo Ralph Lauren has literally been a life changing and career enhancing experience. To have the support and backing of the London team has given me a new lease of life. Now my close family share just a little of the Ralph Lauren lifestyle in our own modest way.
And as you always say, this is just the beginning
Thank you.
